What I said about the Rad Power Bikes RadWagon 4

A family cargo e-bike I used for pool runs, school drop-offs, and groceries with two kids on the back.

I've been using the RadWagon 4 to take the kids to the pool, run around town, and hit the grocery store, and hopping on it and getting rock star parking everywhere is phenomenal. The low center of gravity makes it stable with a full load, and I had zero safety concerns with the new in-house tires on-road or off. The parts aren't perfect out of the box, but for family hauling it delivers.

Liked

  • Long frame and low center of gravity felt stable with kids on the back
  • 750W motor handled hills and intersections
  • Throttle works from zero, which helps when you're loaded with two kids
  • Front basket is great for tossing in backpacks
  • Adjustable monkey bars and seat pads for passengers
  • Steady kickstand for loading
  • Easy to share between parents with the telescoping seatpost and adjustable handlebar
  • Bright orange color plus brake light helps other people see you

Didn't

  • The shifter felt cheap to me, and I had to adjust the gears out of the box
  • Mine arrived with something bent in shipping that took some twisting to fix (maybe just my unit)
  • Seat cushions are sold one at a time, so order two for two kids
  • Hold the bike when kids are climbing on and off, even with the kickstand down

What I said about the Blix Packa

A long-tail family cargo bike whose dual-battery option gives it rare range; no suspension and a tall fit.

Buy the Packa if you want a long-tail cargo bike for kids and groceries that goes a long way. The one I tested had two batteries, rated for 80 miles. My two kids fit on the back easily. I found it comfortable and nimble for a bigger bike, and I had no trouble making tight turns. If you'll ride it several times a week, I think it's worth the money. Skip it if you're shorter or want suspension. My wife prefers the Aventon Abound because of the Packa's seat height and size. The bike I tested had no shocks; the only cushioning was the air in the tires. I added a suspension seat post myself.
