What I said about the Tesgo STT

If you want a folding fat tire e-bike and speed is the main thing you care about, the Tesgo is the one I'd pick.

If you want a folding fat tire e-bike and speed is the main thing you care about, the Tesgo is the one I'd pick. Its 1000W rear hub motor is ridiculously fast. I got it well over 20 mph, and off the line it pulls way harder than the 500W Gyroor C5 Max I tested next to it. Because the frame is relatively light for a 1000W bike, it feels quicker than the bigger, heavier 1000W e-bikes I've ridden. The big problem is the frame. It flares out into a Y shape near the pedals, and my heels kept hitting it. It's also heavier and beefier than the Gyroor. If I were buying a folding e-bike for myself, I'd go with the slimmer Gyroor. If I strictly wanted speed, I'd go with the Tesgo.

Liked

  • 1000W rear hub motor with a ton of power
  • Ridiculously fast; well over 20 mph in my testing
  • Way more torque off the line than the 500W Gyroor
  • Feels quicker than heavier 1000W bikes I've tested
  • Throttle works from zero
  • Color display with a nice readout of output
  • Comfortable, premium hand grips
  • Shock in the seat for some up and down travel
  • Front fork suspension and fenders
  • Beefy rear rack
  • Tail light that lights up when you squeeze the brake

Didn't

  • Y-shaped frame flares out near the pedals; my heels kept hitting it
  • Heavier and beefier than the Gyroor C5 Max
  • No rear suspension
  • Seat almost hits the rear basket when it's set low
  • No official Tesgo spec page or price I could confirm as of Oct 22, 2026

What I said about the Gyroor C5 Max

If you want a slim folding fat tire e-bike with suspension front and rear, the Gyroor C5 Max is the one I'd pick over the Tesgo STT. I rode both back to back in 2022. The Gyroor rides really smoothly, its 500W motor was plenty for me at 200 lbs, and it folds into a slimmer package. The Tesgo is far faster with its 1,000W motor, so if you strictly want speed, buy the Tesgo. The Gyroor isn't perfect. Its charge plug kept falling out, the rear rack is flimsy, and there's no tail light.

Liked

  • Front and rear suspension; it rides really smoothly
  • Slim frame that folds into a smaller package than the Tesgo
  • Plenty of room to pedal, with nothing on the frame in the way of your heels
  • Really comfortable palm-style grips
  • Twist throttle that works from zero
  • Front headlight and a really loud horn
  • Name-brand shifter
  • Tires with a bit more tread than the Tesgo's, which I believe are puncture resistant
  • Lighter than the Tesgo

Didn't

  • The charge plug kept falling out
  • Pretty flimsy rear rack
  • No tail light, just a reflector
  • Simple, non-color display
  • Cadence sensor, not a torque sensor
  • Half the motor power of the Tesgo
  • Not on Gyroor's own store as of Oct 22, 2026
