What I said about the Aventon Pace 500.3

A solid baseline commuter with a natural-feeling torque sensor. Best on pavement.

This is a solid baseline e-bike. You don't get a lot of extras, but the price reflects that. The torque sensor feels natural, and the 500W motor got me up every incline at about 200 lb. My wife rides the regular frame and it fits her perfectly. If you ride gravel, pick an Aventon with a front fork.

  • Comfortable Aventon grips for long rides

What I said about the Aventon Level 3

The Aventon Level 3 is the e-bike I'd pick over every other one I've tested, and I'd recommend it as an all-around commuter and as a first e-bike for beginners. After several weeks of testing, everything about it just fits me. It rides on gravel, asphalt and concrete, the torque sensor makes pedaling feel natural, and it adds a few things the Level 2 didn't have: a live range estimate and 4G location tracking. My only complaints are the hand grips and the kickstand, which both feel cheap on a bike this nice. Availability note: as of Oct 22, 2026, aventon.com lists the Level 3 at $1,699 (marked down from $1,899), but every color and size is sold out. The step-through version is also $1,699 and sold out.

Liked

  • Fits me perfectly and works as an all-around bike
  • Torque sensor makes pedal assist feel natural
  • Nicer name-brand brake levers than the Level 2 and the original Level
  • Thumb throttle works from zero while you're in a pedal assist mode
  • Display gives a range estimate based on how you've actually been riding
  • Built-in 4G location, so you can find it if it walks away
  • Integrated LED headlight, and the tail light lights up when you brake
  • Front suspension fork plus a suspension seat post
  • Adjustable stem for rider comfort
  • Integrated rear rack that holds about 60 lbs
  • Clean look with the charge port tucked under the frame
  • Matte black on black looks great

Didn't

  • Cheaper hand grips without the elongated shape I like
  • Same cheap kickstand as the last Level
  • Aventon says GPS is free for the first year, then it's a paid subscription
  • Sold out on aventon.com as of Oct 22, 2026
